Players gather around to set up shops in Legends of Aria. That aspect of Legends of Aria, combined with the free-form nature of the player housing system, plus the PvP that’s enabled in the wilderness areas between safe zones, makes it feel dangerous and untamed like few other MMOs on the market. Spread out across the world you’ll find huts setup with goods displayed for sale and many of those will be themed with certain types of items like weapons, armor, spell reagents, and more. It took me a while to figure out initially, but the trick here is that the vast majority of shops are just ran by actual real-life players. The next step on my list of new MMO milestones is getting my first new set of armor. You don’t necessarily need to roleplay, but it helps get into a game like this if you dabble.
Instead, you create your own story.Īs for Thrymangor Cyris, my noble warrior that has just recently awoken without any of his belongings with no recollection of how he got to this strange new land, he is on a journey of discovery and survival. There are no formal quest lines in Legends of Aria, no classes to choose from, and no elaborate journey to defeat the big bad guy and save the world. Once you do navigate the UI and successfully win your first fight, that’s when things start to get exciting.
